We begin with an honest look at where you stand, how to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and how to use that information to your advantage in growing and developing your artistry, your career and your brand. You will gain a clear understanding of your own personal mission in music, what success looks like for you, and what your next steps are to get there.
From there, we turn to the music itself – how you listen, what you respond to, and how taste develops. This is where identity starts to take shape through sound. We will analyze how some of the greats were able to find their own sound and identify ways that you can find your own sound too.
This is where things get practical. Albums, series, concerts, podcasts, weekly gigs – the through line is the same: make something someone can point to and say, "go check that out." We'll walk through how to conceive and fund a personal project, how to align it with a sense of contribution to the world, and how to bring it from an idea into something that exists for people to experience. We’re going to get very specific.
This week we’ll turn something daunting – building a tour from scratch – into something totally attainable. We’ll learn proper etiquette for how to reach out to venues, and how to actually get them to respond. This isn’t just about getting your band on the road once – it’s about how to build a sustainable touring model that will grow your fanbase and have venues invite you to return.
A career in music is built through people – mentors, collaborators, audiences, and the communities you become part of over time. We'll talk about learning from the masters, finding mentors, developing meaningful relationships, and surrounding yourself with the right team as your work grows. This is also where your identity begins to connect with something larger than yourself.
This is where the practical and the philosophical come together. We'll talk about how to grow and evolve alongside the real-world side of things: income streams, saving, retirement, and building a sustainable life in music. In many ways, it's all the things I wish I had learned in music school. We’ll also open things up and work directly with what you're building – your ideas, your projects, your next steps.

This course is for serious musicians at a crossroads — students who sense that school isn't giving them everything, and working players ready to build something of their own. You don't have to be a professional. You can be starting out or have years behind you — the course is designed to meet you where you are. It's also available to gift to a student or musician you believe in. If you're asking whether it applies to you: it probably does.
No problem. All of the sessions will be recorded, and you'll have access to them afterward. You can go back and watch anything you missed, or revisit parts that you want to spend more time with.
The live sessions are two hours each week. There will also be some recommended assignments along the way. They're not required, but they're there if you want to go deeper and really apply what we're working on. If you enroll in VIP, you'll also be able to chat with Emmet throughout the week.
Not at all. You can be just starting out, or you can have years of experience — the course is designed to meet you where you are. A lot of what we'll be doing is self-assessment and working through how to move from your current position to the next stage in a thoughtful way.
No — and that's intentional. We'll be talking about music, artistry, and building a life around it, so the ideas apply regardless of what instrument you play (or even if you don't play one at all). Everyone should be able to take something meaningful from it.
It's meant to be very interactive. You'll have opportunities to ask questions, share what you're working on, and be part of the conversation. Especially in the later sessions, we'll spend time workshopping ideas and projects together.
